Rome system recognised as ‘Best Use of Technology’

Bank of Ireland UK has been recognised in industry awards for its online mortgage application system.  ‘Rome’ – a multi-channel, digital platform, was launched to intermediaries in June this year after extensive research to understand what partners really want from a mortgage provider.

Judges in the Mortgage Finance Gazette Awards acknowledged Rome’s focus on user-experience, and named BOI UK as winner of the ‘Best Use of Technology’ category due to the success of the new platform.

New features of the system include the ability for brokers to generate and print an Agreement in Principle certificate for their clients – meaning buyers can confidentially talk with estate agents about what they can afford, while estate agents have the reassurance that prospective buyers are in the financial position necessary to complete on a sale.

Other facilities include secure document upload for underwriter assessment, providing a clear platform from which to easily keep track of items and add to them when requested, document bundling for easy compliance audit trail, as well as case messaging direct to the underwriter dealing with the case.

Alison Pallett, Director of Sales UK Mortgages at Bank of Ireland UK, said “This award is a testament to the teams of people who have worked hard to create an easy to use, simple and speedy online mortgage application system for brokers.

“Rome’s adaptability to different intermediary business models makes it market leading and we will continue to invest in developing enhancements that add value to the work of our partners.”

Firstxtra, an Appointed Representative firm of First Complete, is one of those organisations making the most of the Rome system. Chris Hall, Firstxtra’ s Operations Director said: ‘We were very pleased when Bank of Ireland UK launched their new document upload facility, as it provides us with a much improved way of doing business with a lender providing a consistently good service and strengthening what we offer our clients.”
