Ways we support

Website Accessibility

We are committed to providing a website that is, regardless of technology or ability, accessible to everybody. We will aim to author more user-friendly, and customer-focused content. Visit our Accessibility Statement for more details.

Branch services

All our branches are manned by colleagues who can help you to withdraw cash over the counter. All our branches have a hearing loop, wheelchair access and are compliant with DDA standards.

Relay UK

Our call centre is able to use the Text Relay service when receiving and making calls to deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired customers.

Hearing loops in our branches

Our branches have hearing loops available. Hearing loops provide a magnetic, wireless signal recognised by most hearing aids. They can improve sound quality during conversations with staff. When using the hearing loop turn your hearing aid to the T position.

Large print and Braille communications

You can request our communications (statements, letters and brochures) in Braille, large print, audio or coloured paper. Please contact your local branch or our call centre on 0346 6016 157 to arrange. Mortgage customers can call us on 0345 300 8000.

Signly

Signly translates our web pages into British Sign Language.

When it’s turned on, you can select, tap or swipe any text on a page and a qualified translator will sign it to you.

If a page hasn’t been translated yet, you can ask for a translation and it will be ready within one week.

The service is free.

SignVideo

British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation service from home.

You can contact us from home using a BSL interpreter via SignVideo.

SignVideo will connect you to a qualified BSL interpreter using the camera on your device. The BSL interpreter will then be able to relay your conversation.

You can use this service from Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm (excluding bank and public holidays).

Relay UK

Relay UK helps people with hearing and speech difficulties communicate over the phone.

You can use Relay UK with a textphone or by downloading the app to your smartphone, tablet or PC. Dial 18001 followed by the number you want to call. There is no additional charge for using Relay UK, but you will still pay any usual call costs.

Hidden disabilities

Not all disabilities or long-term health conditions are visible. In all our Bank of Ireland branches, we are proud to support:

  • The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower and

  • The Just A Minute (JAM) Card.

Hidden Disabilities Sunflower

This is a discreet way to show that the wearer has a non-visible disability and may need a little more help or time.

Visit the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower website

Just A Minute (JAM) Card

The JAM Card helps people with a hidden disability or communication barrier. It tells others that they need extra time and understanding in a private and easy way.
