Not all disabilities or long-term health conditions are visible. Conditions like autism, poor mental health, sight loss and learning difficulties aren’t always apparent but that doesn’t make them any less real or challenging.
Access to everyday banking products and services matters. For everyone. And while many people choose to bank digitally or over the phone, face-to-face in-branch support remains an important option for those who may benefit from extra reassurance, time or understanding.
That’s why Bank of Ireland is proud to support two initiatives designed to make the in-branch experience more accessible to those who need it.
Hidden Disabilities Sunflower
This is a discreet way to let our staff know you have a non-visible disability and may need a little more help or time.
For more information, visit the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower website.

Just a Minute (JAM) Card
The JAM Card lets you tell others, without needing to explain, that you need a bit more time or patience. It is available in physical or digital form.
To order a JAM Card or find out more, visit the JAM Card website.

These simple, discreet tools help customers to indicate that they may have a hidden disability or condition that is not immediately apparent and that they may need a little extra time, patience or support during their visit.
All Bank of Ireland branch colleagues are trained to recognise these tools and respond with care and understanding, giving customers the time, space and support they need to carry out their banking with confidence. That’s the kind of support Bank of Ireland is proud to offer.
For anyone supporting a family member, friend or loved one with their banking, Bank of Ireland’s Extra Help Centre offers a dedicated online hub with information and guidance, helping people feel more confident in managing financial matters.
So, whether you go into a branch, bank online or over the phone, we’re here to help everyone manage their finances in a way that works best for their personal circumstances.
For more information on these supports and other services, visit the Bank of Ireland UK Extra Help Centre.

Support for hidden disabilities
Sometimes the hardest part of banking isn’t the money, it’s walking into a branch.
The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyard is one way to let our staff know you may need a little more help or time when visiting a branch.
