Castlerock Golf Club’s Logo to Feature on Shane Lowry’s Shirt

Castlerock Golf Club in County Londonderry has been announced as the winner of ‘Sponsor for a Day’ competition run by Bank of Ireland as part of this year’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Open celebrations.  The competition was open to golf clubs across Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland, offering them the chance to have their name and logo displayed on the shirt of Bank of Ireland ambassador, Shane Lowry.

As winner of the exclusive prize, Castlerock Golf Club will have exposure to millions of golfing fans who will tune in to watch the tournament, as their branding will feature on golf superstar, Shane Lowry’s shirt on the opening two days.  The club also won four tickets for each day’s play on 6th and 7th July, allowing a number of members to celebrate at one of the biggest sporting events of the year.

Bert MacKay, General Manager of Castlerock Golf Club said, “It will be such an honour to see Shane Lowry wearing our club branding and we are so grateful to Bank of Ireland for the incredible opportunity. Needless to say, we wish Shane all the very best of luck!”

Ian Sheppard, Regional Director NI, Bank of Ireland UK said, “As official sponsor of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open for a second year, we are delighted to be a part of this world class event and to celebrate Castlerock Golf Club’s success in winning ‘Sponsor for a Day’. In common with Castlerock Golf Club, we share a passion for the local communities we serve. We look forward to seeing their name in the spotlight in what is set to be a memorable event for all involved.”

As part of the packed itinerary, Bank of Ireland has also teamed up with Confederation Golf Ireland (CGI) and the European Tour to run the popular Irish Open Skills Challenge for children under the age of 15. Golf clubs have the opportunity to put forward teams of four to compete in the development skills challenge which will allow each player to be designated to a certain skill, including putting, chipping, the iron challenge and the driving challenge. The individual skills scores will be combined for a total team score and the top teams from each region will compete in the National Final at Portstewart Golf Club on Tuesday, 4th July 2017 in the skills zone at the Open Championship Village. Winners will also have the chance meet some of the world’s top golfers.

The 2017 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open will take place from 6th – 9th July in Portstewart Golf Club and, for the first time in its history, it will be hosted by the Rory Foundation. The tournament will be broadcast to more than 450 million homes around the world, and watched by what are expected to be sell-out crowds, over the course of the four days.
