Winner of ‘Best use of IT in Retail banking and Insurance’

Bank of Ireland UK (BOI UK) has been recognised at the FS Tech awards for its mortgage application platform ‘Rome’. The innovative technology centralises the many distribution channels, brands and products required for a mortgage application into one single system, making it easier for multiple stakeholders to access at any one time.

BOI UK won the ‘Best use of IT in Retail Banking and Insurance’ as judges recognised the systems focus on user experience.

The paperless technology uses intelligent questioning, enabling the whole application process to last less than 15 minutes. The features of the system mean that it can be adapted to be bespoke and scalable depending on the user’s business model.

Designed for different users from the end consumer, intermediaries; mortgage administrators and bank staff; simplicity of functionality and features that save time, such as case messaging and document upload ensure clear communication with speed and efficiency making it easier for mortgage intermediaries to do business.

BOI UK conducted in-depth research in order to understand customer current experiences and identify future needs. The award winning system has made mortgage applications almost twice as efficient, halving the time it takes and increasing the number of instant applications accepted.

Jon Workman, Head of Service & Operations, UK Mortgages at Bank of Ireland UK, said: “This award is a testament to the team of staff and development partners who have worked hard to create an easy to use, simple and speedy online mortgage application system for customers and brokers.

“Rome’s adaptability to different intermediary business models makes it market leading and we will continue to invest in developing enhancements that add value to the work of our partners.”
