Bank of Ireland UK invites businesses in Enniskillen to ‘Connect for Growth’ at Enterprise Week event

Bank of Ireland UK recently hosted an event in Enniskillen as part of its extensive Enterprise Week programme.

Enterprise Week is the bank’s own initiative which sees them hosting more than forty events, seminars and clinics with business leaders and experts across the region throughout the week of May 15 – 22.  With its theme of ‘Let’s Connect for Growth’, nearly 1,000 businesses will be engaged across the week.

The invited guests, many of them local business owners, heard from two key speakers including Alan Bridle, UK Economist, Bank of Ireland UK, and local business owner Gillian Beare, Director of Finn Lough.

Welcoming guests to the event, Sean Sheehan, Regional Director, NI Consumer and Small Business, Bank of Ireland UK said: “We are delighted to see so many local businesses here at today’s event which is one of the highlights in our packed programme of Enterprise Week events.

“Bank of Ireland UK continues to work hard to encourage and help ambitious local businesses to succeed and our Enterprise Week initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to support the development of the local economy.”

Bank of Ireland UK economist Alan Bridle provided the invited guests with an overview of the economic prospects for the UK as a whole, and Northern Ireland in particular.

Joining Mr Bridle on the platform was Gillian Beare, Director of Finn Lough Ltd who along with her brother Michael is transforming their parent’s 30 year old business into a luxury retreat and leisure experience, maximising the natural assets on Finn Lough.

After completing a major renovation of the holiday cottages and creating a new forty seater restaurant Gillian and Michael are now turning their attentions to developing a forest spa; glass domed ‘Sleep under the Stars’ style accommodation and a new activity centre.

Gillian said: “I’m delighted to be taking part in Enterprise Week providing me with the opportunity to inform local businesses about our business plans and ambitions to create a superior leisure experience which incorporates the natural resources which are so plentiful in Fermanagh.

“We’re excited to be developing a product that appeals to both visitors in our home market as well as attracting visitors from across Europe, the US and Asia.”

She praised Enterprise Week as a “fantastic platform for business” to enjoy new networking opportunities, learn new skills and access expertise otherwise unavailable to them.

It is the eleventh such initiative the bank has hosted since Enterprise Week was launched six years ago.
