Bank of Ireland is launching a region-wide series of free fraud awareness events

Bank of Ireland is launching a region-wide series of free fraud awareness events for consumers as part of its commitment to safeguarding the financial wellbeing of its customers.

Seven events have been confirmed to date in Omagh, Cookstown, Andersonstown, Glengormley, Bangor, Enniskillen and Magherafelt, with future events planned, ensuring customers and local consumers in every county have an opportunity to attend an event.

The new series of free to attend drop-in events are one element of the Bank’s comprehensive consumer fraud awareness programme which is designed to educate and inform consumers on how they can protect themselves from financial criminals. This further demonstrates the Bank’s ‘Right With You’ brand promise, strengthening customers financial confidence.

In addition to providing immediate support to consumers, Bank of Ireland has partnered with Victim Support, recognising that the harm caused by fraudsters often goes beyond the immediate financial impacts.

Launching the series of events, William Thompson, Head of Consumer Banking, Bank of Ireland UK, said:

“In financial services, we’re on the front line of protecting customers and society from these threats. We continue to invest heavily in our fraud and financial crime operations, ensuring our people have the tools, training, and support they need to keep customers safe.

This includes investing in cutting‑edge innovation and AI‑driven fraud detection technology, helping us spot suspicious activity faster and stay ahead of evolving criminal tactics. Where a customer is targeted by a fraudster they can also talk to us – not a bot – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Through this series of drop-in fraud awareness events, our message to customers remains simple: Stop. Think. Check. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Stay alert, be cautious, and protect yourself.”

Bank of Ireland customers can call the Fraud Team 24/7 on the Freephone line 0800 121 7790 or by dialling 159, the memorable short code number that connects consumers safely with their bank.
