Francesca McDonagh, Group Chief Executive, Bank of Ireland was in Belfast today and took the opportunity to reiterate the bank’s commitment to supporting local customers as they prepare for the UK’s departure from the EU.

“We are very aware that many of our customers in Northern Ireland are concerned about the effect leaving the EU may have on their businesses.

“Earlier this year Bank of Ireland launched a £1.75bn all-Island Brexit Fund to enhance our capacity to meet their needs and support cross-border and other international business.

“We have run more than 250 events across the island aimed at supporting our SME customers in the past 18 months. In addition our team of business advisors, sector specialists and treasury managers are providing support and advice to customers on a daily basis.

“We have developed a dedicated Brexit Portal which brings together, insights, practical information and useful tools from Bank of Ireland UK and other partners. The aim of the portal is to give business customers the tools to plan and prepare with more confidence as they navigate through this period of uncertainty.

“We are committed to providing our customers with support whatever the outcome for Brexit. Our significant all island presence means we are well placed to do that. I would encourage our local business customers to use the supports we have put in place to ensure they can flex, adapt and thrive in the coming months and years.”
