Bank of Ireland is proud to have received the Business Working Responsibly Mark – a certified standard for CSR and sustainability – awarded by Business in the Community Ireland.

The Bank was first certified to the Mark, an independently audited standard for CSR and Sustainability, in 2016 for its Republic of Ireland operations, and the 2019 accreditation now applies throughout the Group, including its businesses in the UK.

The achievement of the Mark complements the Bank’s recent commitments to the responsible and sustainable business including becoming a signatory to the UN Principles for Responsible Banking, and our commitment to reduce our carbon emissions intensity by 50% by 2030.

Commenting on the recertification, Francesca McDonagh, Group CEO, said “Bank of Ireland’s purpose is to enable our customers, colleagues and communities to thrive. Conducting our business in a responsible and sustainable way is central to this purpose, so we’re very proud to again receive the Business Working Responsibly Mark.”

Recertification required the submission of a detailed questionnaire, covering 22 indicators across Community, Workplace, Marketplace, Environment and Governance, as well as participation in a four-day audit across sites in Dublin, Bristol and Belfast.
